Introduction to
THE PANDEMONIUM INSTITUTE
as a company
The Pandemonium Institute was founded in 2019 with the goals of getting Blood on the Clocktower out into the world, creating great games, and bringing people together.
We began as a small company in Sydney, Australia, with a handful of us holding our meetings at the local gelato parlour. We travelled the world to introduce Blood on the Clocktower to as many people as possible in person and learned an awful lot along the way. We’ve since been able to recruit a few extra members from Australia and around the globe, and set our sights on some fun & ambitious plans for the future. We’re still a small company, and we still meet at the gelato parlour sometimes, and we plan to keep making great games and bringing people together.
The Pandemonium Institute is committed to games that are works of art, games that bring people together, enrich relationships, and become unforgettable shared experiences. We design beautiful, innovative, immersive games that transform social interactions and redefine what it means to play together.

WHAT WE’VE ACCOMPLISHED
Blood on the Clocktower funded on Kickstarter in March 2019. With support from 6,434 backers in 55 countries it raised $573,621 USD - nearly nine times its original funding goal. After an intensive pre-production period, Blood on the Clocktower was released in May 2022. In January 2024, it became the #1 Party Game on BoardGameGeek. In May 2025, it entered their top one hundred games.
Blood on the Clocktower conventions have been taking place since 2023, seeing hundreds gather to play together each year in Las Vegas, England, Germany, Sydney, and on the high seas. The wild antics of No Rolls Barred playing Blood on the Clocktower continues to draw new people into the world of BOTC, now joined by playthroughs on Dropout, Smosh, & Good Time Society. There’s also been a smash hit live show selling out at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival since 2023.
Over fifty thousand copies of Blood on the Clocktower have been sold worldwide, with official translations in Chinese, German, Spanish, Czech, Russian, Brazilian Portuguese, Hungarian, and Korean. The community is also growing online, with thousands gathering each week to have fun together playing Blood on the Clocktower Online – currently in beta but marching in great strides towards a full release.
We’re glad to say our goal of getting people together to play great games is accomplished many thousands of time over but we look forward to creating more games and avenues to create more as our global community continues to grow with more new players discover the game and get hooked on it every day.
